CURRICULLUM AND FACILITIES

The broad span of its curriculum for training of persons in both the agricultural and other sectors of the economy makes the Department a most popular choice by students. The academic staff comprises persons that have had experiences in Nigeria, Europe and America. There is a core of 12 academic staff compromising six Professors, one adjunct Professor, two Senior Lecturers, and two other Lecturers. In addition, some staff of the Centre for Entrepreneurial and Development research (CEDR) are associated with the Department. The academic staff are well specialized in different areas, and their research interests cover the whole field of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development. For a meaningful academic pursuit, the Department has a Departmental Library which houses books and research reports in different areas of Agricultural Economics. There are also, a Faculty Library and Main University Library at the service of both staff and students. These libraries stock journals, textbooks and governmental and non-governmental publications relevant to the discipline. The Department also has an Information Technology Laboratory for the training needs of the students.

In addition to the undergraduate programme, the Department has a large postgraduate programme. In terms of numerical strength, it runs one of the largest postgraduate programmes in the University. Services of specialists in the Department are also available for training and consultancy services in all areas of AgriculturalEconomics.
